Courtney competes at 2015 State Age Short Course National Championships

Golden West Dolphin Courtney Lee competed in the 2015 State Age Short Course National Championships in  Canberra in September. Courtney swam in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke events. Courtney said the energy at the meet was palpable and being part of the WA team was really enjoyable.

Coutney describes the Canberra 25m pool facilities as excellent but slightly smaller than she expected. The outdoor 50m pool used for warm up and cool down has an underwater viewing window, so that coaches and swimmers alike can view swimming technique under the water without cameras. On event day, swimmers just have to sign in and then estimate the time of the program. There was no marshalling board to keep swimmers informed of when to arrive pre-race. Swimmers had to take responsibility for arriving on time to races. Swimmers also took responsibility for their own warm up and cool down swims with the biggest difference being the number of swimmers she had to share the lanes with.

What was the best part of the tournament? Swimming against faster swimmers and meeting new swimmers from WA and all the other states.
